It all comes down to You

This song came to me (Darren) after a moment I had in the car last year. I was driving along letting my mind do what it does, which is worrying and racing and speculating – I was absorbed in the fear when all of a sudden I heard a voice from behind me shout ‘STOP IT’. It wasn’t the audible voice of God, it was my 4 year old son. I don’t know what he was thinking but it snapped me out of my spin. I wondered if it was God trying to speak to me but immediately mocked the idea and wrote it off,  but somehow before I shrank back into my head I decided in the moment to have faith and believe it was God and to reach for his words – promises – scriptures instead of the trickery of my own head. If there was a chance it was God then I was going to take that and run with it. It was better than the alternative darkness my own head offered me. So that was the inspiration for the first line and the rest of the song followed fairly easily.

I’ll take your words, over my thoughts

I’ll take Your truth, even when it hurts

It all comes down to you

You who make all things new

At the end of it all

The earth may crumble and the skies may fall

But I will not be swept away

Though my heart tells me to be afraid

But I will stand on what You say

And the promises You made

It all comes down to you, It all comes down to you

It all comes down to you in the end… my dear friend.

I’ll follow you, wherever you lead

I just want you,  instead of me

It all comes down to You

You who make all things new

At the end of it all,

The earth may crumble and the skies may fall

But I will not be swept away

Though my heart tells me to be afraid

I will stand on what You say and the promises You made

It all comes down to You

You who make all things new

At the end of it all,

The earth may crumble and the skies may fall

But I will not be swept away

Though my heart tells me to be afraid

I will stand on what You say and the promises You made

It all comes down to you, It all comes down to you

It all comes down to you in the end… my dear friend.

It all comes down to you, It all comes down to you

It all comes down to you in the end… my dear friend.
